The 250V-rated connector is a high-power, high-reliability, free-hanging cable-mount connector system engineered for demanding automotive, industrial, and energy applications requiring up to 250V nominal voltage and 17A continuous current per contact. Featuring a robust glass-filled PBT housing, 1.3mm socket contacts, and keyed mating alignment with terminal position assurance (TPA), this connector is designed for safe, secure, and durable performance in extreme environments ranging from -40°C to 125°C.
This connector is built for a nominal voltage architecture of 250V, making it suitable for mild hybrid systems, electric vehicle auxiliary circuits, industrial power supplies, battery management systems, and renewable energy equipment. Unlike standard 12V automotive connectors, this 250V platform requires enhanced creepage and clearance distances, which are achieved through the 4mm pitch and 4mm row-to-row spacing.
The cable exit angle is 180° (straight) , allowing straightforward cable routing and minimizing bend stress on wires, which is critical for thicker gauge wires required for 17A current carrying.
The primary product color is black, providing a professional appearance along with UV resistance and thermal stability. The connector & keying code is 1, indicating a specific keying configuration to prevent mismating with other connectors in the same family.
The connector accepts socket-type contacts (female terminals) with a contact size of 1.3mm. The mating pin diameter is precisely 1.3 mm (0.051 in) , ensuring consistent, low-resistance electrical contact. The maximum contact current rating is 17A per contact – this is a significant rating that places this connector in the power distribution category rather than signal-level applications. 17A capacity allows this connector to handle loads such as electric motors, heaters, battery chargers, power inverters, and main power feeds.
The 1.3mm contact diameter is optimized for 17A current carrying while maintaining a reasonable connector footprint. For comparison, typical 1.0mm contacts are rated for ~5-10A, while 1.5mm contacts handle ~15-20A – the 1.3mm contact strikes an excellent balance between current capacity and connector density.
Mating alignment is included with a keyed alignment type. Keyed connectors use asymmetric plastic features that physically prevent incorrect mating or cross-mating with other connectors. This is essential for 250V systems where mismating could cause short circuits, equipment damage, or safety hazards.
The housing is manufactured from Glass-Filled Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT) . Glass-filled PBT offers significant advantages over unfilled PBT:
Higher mechanical strength – glass fibers increase tensile and flexural strength
Better dimensional stability – reduced warpage and shrinkage during molding
Higher heat deflection temperature – maintains rigidity at elevated temperatures
Improved creep resistance – critical for maintaining terminal retention force over time
Enhanced chemical resistance – withstands automotive fluids, oils, and solvents
The centerline (pitch) between adjacent contacts is 4 mm (0.157 in) . This wider pitch (compared to 2.5mm signal connectors) provides essential creepage and clearance for 250V operation, prevents arcing between adjacent contacts, reduces cross-talk, and accommodates larger wire gauges (e.g., 14-16 AWG for 17A).
